Are there multiple things about your smile that you want to change? If you have various aesthetic and function issues going on with your teeth, you may be a good candidate for full mouth reconstruction. This service combines multiple cosmetic and restorative treatments to fix up your smile and leave it feeling and looking great again! Read on to learn about some of the different dental treatments that could be included in your full mouth reconstruction.

Dental Fillings

Dental fillings can be used to treat minor damage to the teeth. For instance, if you have a cavity or small fracture, your dentist may be able to fix it up with a filling. The first step involves your dentist administering a local anesthetic so that you don’t feel any discomfort. Then, they will prepare your tooth by removing any damaged portions and applying an acidic gel to clean the area. The filling material is then added to the tooth. Today, dentists use tooth-colored composite resin for the most effective and natural-looking results.

Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is used to save teeth that have been significantly damaged and eliminate discomfort. Once the area has been numbed with a local anesthetic, your dentist will make a small hole in your enamel to remove the damaged and infected tissue from within. Afterward, they will clean and sanitize the tooth to ensure that it is free of bacteria. Lastly, the tooth is filled with filling material. Often times, a dental crown is also placed over the treated tooth for extra protection.

Dental Crown

Getting a dental crown can be completed in just two appointments. First, a thin layer of enamel needs to be removed. This creates room for the crown to fit comfortably in your mouth and appear natural. An impression is then taken and sent to the dental lab where your crown will be crafted. Once it is ready, you can return to the dental office to have it placed.

Veneers

Veneers are thin shells of tooth-colored porcelain that are adhered to the front-facing surfaces of the teeth to mask imperfections. The durable, natural-looking material used can conceal a single damaged tooth or a mouthful of cosmetic flaws. Generally, veneers are used to address teeth that are chipped, gapped, misaligned, misshapen, discolored, undersized, and more!

Dental Implants

Dental implants are made from titanium, and they look like small screws. During the placement procedure, the implants are surgically inserted into the jawbone. Over the next few months, the implants will fuse to your jawbone in a process called “osseointegration.” Dental crowns or other restorations are then attached to your implants with metal connector pieces called “abutments.” Then, you can show off a complete smile.

Full mouth reconstruction can contain multiple treatments and procedures. During your consultation with your dentist, you will discuss your goals so a customized treatment plan can be made to meet your unique needs!
